DENNIS SEATON FROM MUSICAL YOUTH

Dennis Seaton started his musical career at the tender age of 14, when his best friend, Fredrick Waite Junior, asked him to audition for their band. As Dennis was the only person that showed up for the audition, he became the lead singer and, along with Junior, Kelvin Grant and Michael Grant, Musical Youth was formed.

With no formal vocal or musical training to fall back on, Dennis was thrust into the world of entertainment that has been his passion for over 25 years and, to this day, still remains the same.

The year 1982 was very significant for Musical Youth, as not only did they sign a major record deal with MCA Records, they also recorded the song ‘Pass the Dutchie’ which catapulted the band into worldwide fame. The song sold in excess of 5 million copies with Dennis sharing the lead vocals alongside Kelvin Grant, who himself was only 11 years old. Not many people can say that they have sung lead vocals on a song that has sold over a million copies.
